Easter weekend in Athens

This Easter bank holiday just gone I spent 3 nights in the capital of Greece, Athens. Whenever I usually go to Greece I never spend more than a few hours in the city before travelling to the islands so I wanted to really explore the city and get to know it a little better seeing as my dad grew up there.

I don’t think you will find a single Greek person who doesn’t love ice coffee. We stopped at the cutest little restaurant and enjoyed an Espresso Frappe with a gorgeous view of the Acropolis.

I love eating some traditional Greek food. Here we had fresh calamari, boiled octopus with olive oil and herbs and tzatziki.

What was amazing that literally within a couple of minutes from being in the busy streets in the city centre you could walk off and explore the cutest quirky lanes and streets.

Athens was covered in graffiti literally everywhere you looked. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that… I personally loved the contrast of the oldness of the cobbled streets with the spray painted artwork.

I cannot recommend anyone enough who is visiting Athens to book themselves a table at Aleria restaurant and order the wine pairing tasting menu!

The food was amazing, beautifully presented and the service was great. The restaurant had a cool vibe as it felt like you were in a house and only seats a few people so it is a very intimate environment.

I have not been to Greece yet, and I am yet to discover myself that Greek people like to drink ice coffee.
